Astro is an open-source web framework for content-led websites: marketing sites, venues, service businesses and blogs. It launched in 2022, is MIT-licensed, and has been part of Cloudflare since January 2026.
Most modern website builders send the browser a bundle of JavaScript that has to run before the page appears. Astro does that work once, when the site is built, and sends finished HTML. The page shows as soon as it arrives, on any phone or connection.
